A little history
On 28 October 1793, the battle of Rousies made it possible to free Maubeuge definitively from Austrian control. On 12 July 1739, the curé of Rousies, Martin Riche, celebrated the funeral of the curé of Ferrière-la-Grande, Pierre-Michel Jenicq. Created on 9 June 2003 in Valenciennes by Mgr Garnier, the parish of Sainte Aldegonde en Val de Sambre, of which Rousies now forms part, was christened on Sunday 28 September 2003 in Bersillies. This parish brings together the communes of Maubeuge, Rousies, Assevent, Feignies, Bersillies, Bettignies, Élesmes, Gognies-Chaussée, Mairieux, Vieux Reng and Villers-Sire-Nicole.
