A little history
The barony of Rostrenen dates back to Riwalon, seneschal of Bretagne in 1068. The parish of Moëlou was located in the archdeaconry of Poc'her (Poher) and in the bishopric of Cornouaille. It had Rostrenen as its tréve. The seigneurial chapel of Rostrenen was replaced at the beginning of the 14th century (probably between 1320 and 1352, during the time of Alain VII de Rohan and his wife Jeanne de Rostrenen) by a larger church placed under the dedication of Notre-Dame following the discovery of a bust of her.
