A little history
In the Gallo-Roman period, marshes bordered the Aven at the location of the current ponds. A Roman road crossed the coastal river by means of a ford, at the foot of the hill of Kérentré, where the Romans established a military post situated on the left bank. A Roman villa, in the sense of an estate, was built on another hill situated on the right bank, with a few huts and farms. However, the main Roman road running from Vannes (Darioritum) to Quimper (Civitas Aquilonia) passed further to the south, following the route of the current D 22 passing through the chapelle du Moustoir en Kernével and those of la Trinité and Coat-an-Poudou en Melgven.
