The commune of Rives-du-Loir-en-Anjou was created on 1 January 2019 by a prefectoral order of 8 November 2018 providing for the grouping together of Soucelles and Villevêque, which became delegated communes. Its administrative centre was established at the mairie of Villevêque. For the history prior to 2019, reference should be made to the articles devoted to the former merged communes.
