Rang-du-Fliers is a French commune situated in the département of Pas-de-Calais in the Hauts-de-France region. A section of the commune of Verton since 1801, it was elevated to the status of a commune in 1870. Its inhabitants are called the Rangeois.
A little history
During the Second World War, on 22 July 1944, ten civilians originally from Rang-du-Fliers and Verton perished in the explosion of a V1 bomb. The V1, intended to strike England, crashed into a house on the rue de la sucrerie-Garry where ten people were keeping vigil over their deceased. In 2024, for the 80th anniversary of the liberation, the municipality paid tribute to them by inaugurating the square Garry, adorned with eleven beams representing the victims and the deceased, and by affixing an explanatory panel.
