Quintin, the town
Quintin covers 3.1 km², lies between 154 and 220 m above sea level and had 2,739 inhabitants in the 2023 census.
Quintin [kɛ̃tɛ̃] is a commune in the département des Côtes-d'Armor, in the Bretagne region (in Argoat), in France.
A little history
The presence of menhirs attests that the area has been occupied since the Neolithic period. Quintin came into being in the Roman era owing to its strategic position as a crossroads of communication routes. Initially, Quintin was situated on the site of the present-day commune of Vieux-Bourg, but following a plague epidemic, the town relocated. The seigneurie of Quintin dates back to at least the 12th century. The first seigneur of Quintin whose name is known is Geoffroy Ier Botherel, son of Alain de Goëlo, comte de Penthièvre and de Goëlo, who received the seigneurie of Quintin as his share and passed it on to his descendants.
