A little history
The calvaire de Menez-ar-Plour is a lech that is believed to have been Christianised around the 9th century by the addition of a cross at its summit. A decapitated bust, probably dating from the second Iron Age, was found at Plounévez-Lochrist. It shows the hands resting on the stomach, thumbs raised vertically, as though holding some object. The name Plounévez (Ploe neguez) is mentioned for the first time in a tax roll of the archbishopric of Tours in 1330.
