A little history
The marine cave of Menez Dregan, the megalithic necropolis of the pointe du Souc'h and the allée couverte de Menez Korriged bear witness to the long history of settlement on the present-day commune of Plouhinec. Menez Dregan is a former marine cave, now partially collapsed, inhabited by various successive human groups during the Lower Palaeolithic, which has been the subject of an excavation since 1988. It is characterised by an alternation of natural layers (marine pebbles, beach, erosion deposits, attesting to successive variations in sea level) and anthropogenic layers (successive human occupation floors) repeating at least four times between 500,000 and 250,000 BC.
