Plouézec [pluezɛk] is a French commune in the former pays du Goëlo, close to Paimpol in the baie de Saint-Brieuc, located in the département des Côtes-d'Armor in the région Bretagne.
A little history
Plouézec is a former parish of primitive Armorica which encompassed, in addition to its current territory, that of the former parish of Kérity, which now forms part of Paimpol. By founding the Abbaye de Beauport for the Premonstratensians in 1202, Alain d'Avaugour, juveigneur de Bretagne and comte de Goëlo, gave to the said abbey the six great parishes of the Goëlo, Pordic, Étables, Plouvara, Plélo, Plouézec and Plouha, so that Plouha was administered by a member of the religious community of the abbey who bore the title of prieur-recteur. The other parishes were served by secular priests.
