A little history
Various weapons and other lithic tools have been discovered, attesting that the Armorican coastline attracted humans in prehistoric times around 80,000 BC. The peat deposit on the beach at Porsguen [Porz Gwen], dated to between 4,200 and 3,400 years ago, yielded a vertebrate fauna including equus asinus and ovis aries, as well as archaeological material attributable to the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age. This deposit illustrates variations in sea level, since this location was at that time covered by vegetation. Pollen analysis revealed a type of agriculture involving land clearance by fire, followed by grazing and then cultivation.
