Plestin-les-Grèves [plɛstɛ̃ le gʁɛv] is a Breton commune, situated on the edge of the English Channel, in the département of Côtes-d'Armor, in the region of Bretagne. It takes its name from a Welsh saint, Gestin (Plou-Jestin). Its inhabitants are known as the Plestinais and the Plestinaises.
A little history
A significant hoard (450 specimens) of Armorican socketed axes was discovered in 1976 near the Rest-Menou. Fragments of earthenware vessels, pottery and tiles, along with remains of paintings dating back to the Gallo-Roman period, were found in 1877 by a farmer in a field adjoining the dunes backed up against the cliff that forms the entrance to the port of Toul-an-Héry. The Roman baths of Hogolo are situated at the water's edge. They were initially discovered in 1892 by a farmer.
