Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Têt and by one other watercourse.

The place is mentioned for the first time on 21 April 876. By decree of 6 August 1963, Corneilla-la-Rivière and Saint-Féliu-d'Avall lost several portions of territory, which were attached to Pézilla-la-Rivière.
