A little history
The earliest occupation of the territory of Pézenas dates back to the 7th century BCE. A significant oppidum, linked to the Greek city of Arles, was discovered to the north-west of the town. Pline l'Ancien (23–79 AD) mentions the oppidum latinum in the Histoire naturelle for the quality of its wools and the bleaching properties of the waters of the Peyne.
