Situated to the north-west of the Lille metropolitan area, it forms part of the Métropole européenne de Lille.
A little history
The first mention of Pérenchies, spelled Pencies, appears in a manuscript dating from 1101. In the Middle Ages, the lands belonged to a viscountcy lordship. The seigneurs de Pérenchies owned lands there and a keep on a motte. In 1167, the Ordre du Temple settled there by building a commanderie and owned lands there until the 14th century.
