Pérassay covers 24.2 km², lies between 268 and 422 m above sea level and had 416 inhabitants in the 2023 census.
Pérassay is a French commune located in the département of Indre, in the région of Centre-Val de Loire. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Indre, the Taisonne, the Palles and various other small watercourses. The commune possesses a natural zone of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
The commune was attached from 1973 to 2015 to the canton of Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre. During the Second World War, on 16 July 1944, a battle took place in a hamlet of this commune, Genest, between the FFI and the German army. A stele today borders the departmental road D917 in homage to the resistance members who died for France. It bears in particular the name of the resistance fighter Jean Pacton, known as « Ardent ».
