Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Abloux, the Portefeuille, the Boisrémont, the Portefeuille and various other small watercourses. A little history
The dolmen des Gorces, built during the Neolithic period, is the oldest evidence of human occupation on the territory of the commune. There are multiple traces of the metal ages (broadly speaking, from the historical Celts to the Gauls). In the village, multiple reused materials most likely point to a Gallo-Roman occupation. In the village centre, the former castrum (Middle Ages) is still legible. One need only walk around the current church to appreciate the very probable motte-and-bailey mound, and its ditches, upon which it was erected.
