Orbigny (prononcé) est une commune française du département d'Indre-et-Loire, en région Centre-Val de Loire. Des vestiges préhistoriques ténus et parfois difficiles à interpréter (survivance toponymique d'anciens mégalithes, traces d'activité sidérurgique) sont retrouvés sur la commune. Une église y est fondée dès le VIe siècle et le territoire est peu à peu défriché alors qu'au Moyen Âge il se situe sur l'un des nombreux chemins menant vers Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle et dispose des équipements nécessaires à l'accueil des pèlerins.
