Nibelle is a French commune situated in the Loiret department in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Rimarde, the Cens, the ruisseau de la Motte Bucy, the Petite Rimarde and various other small watercourses. The commune possesses a remarkable natural heritage comprising two Natura 2000 sites and a natural zone of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
The existence of potters in Nibelle is attested since 1285. In the 16th century, the village was known for its production of terracotta whistles. Several thousand fragments, dating from 1560–1570, were discovered during the demolition of a 17th-century house. Some are preserved at the Musée historique et archéologique de l'Orléanais.
