Mûrs-Erigné [myʁ eʁiɲe] is a French commune situated in the département of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. A battle took place there at the Roche-de-Mûrs in 1793 during the bataille des Ponts-de-Cé.
A little history
Traces of prehistoric and Gallo-Roman life have been identified in the commune. The église Saint-Pierre d'Érigné dates from the 15th century and is situated close to the parc Saint-Pierre and the parc du Jau. On 26 July 1793, the camp at the Roche-de-Mûrs was stormed by the Vendéens during the bataille des Ponts-de-Cé. Several Parisian volunteers threw themselves into the Louet and drowned whilst trying to flee.
