Mur-de-Sologne is a French commune located in the département of Loir-et-Cher, in the région of Centre-Val de Loire. Situated in the south of the département, the commune forms part of the small agricultural area known as la Grande Sologne, a vast expanse of woodland and meadows with poor yields. Land use is characterised by the importance of agricultural and natural spaces, which occupy almost the entire area of the commune.
A little history
The decree of the Assemblée nationale of 12 November 1789 decreed that there would be a municipality in every town, borough, parish or rural community, but it was only with the decree of the Convention nationale of 10 brumaire year II (31 October 1793) that the parish of Mur-de-Sologne formally became the commune of Mur-de-Sologne. In 1790, as part of the creation of the départements, the municipality was attached to the canton of Selles and to the district of Romorantin. The cantons were abolished, as an administrative division, by a law of 26 June 1793, and retained only an electoral role, enabling the election of second-degree electors responsible for designating deputies.
