Morannes sur Sarthe-Daumeray is a new French commune situated in the département of Maine-et-Loire, in the region of Pays de la Loire. It was formed by the merger on 1 January 2017 of the three communes of Chemiré-sur-Sarthe, Daumeray and Morannes, which became délégué communes. Chemiré-sur-Sarthe and Morannes had previously joined together in 2016 to form the commune of Morannes-sur-Sarthe, which was dissolved at that point.
A little history
The new commune of Morannes sur Sarthe-Daumeray was created on 1 January 2017 and comprises the délégué communes of Chemiré-sur-Sarthe and Daumeray. Morannes did not take on this status. The municipal council subsequently requested that this status be granted to Morannes as well, which was obtained by order of the prefect dated 9 September 2025 amending the original order with effect from 1 January 2026. For the history prior to 2017, reference should be made to the articles devoted to the former merged communes.
