A little history
Remains dating from the Mesolithic were discovered and excavated in the 1960s, during the development of sports facilities near the cité des Bosquets. Gaulish tribes and Roman settlers subsequently adopted the plateau and made it a strategic observation point overlooking the valley of the Marne. The cité of Montfermeil, which was at that time no more than a clearing in the forêt de Bondy, appears for the first time during the course of the 12th century, in the Latin form of Montefirmo (mont fermé) in 1122, then as Montfermolio in 1124.
