Rosny-sous-Bois [ʁonisubwɑ] is a French commune situated in Île-de-France, to the east of Paris, in the département of Seine-Saint-Denis.
A little history
The existence of a Merovingian village is attested by excavations carried out next to the église Sainte-Geneviève. In 1163, a papal bull from Pope Alexandre III makes mention of Rodoniacum, the church with the village around it as well as the land belonged to the abbaye de Sainte Geneviève. The abbé de Sainte-Geneviève was required, each year, to give the king six white geese for the fief that the royal domain held at Rosny. According to a manuscript of 1291, Les Miracula sanctae Genovefae post mortem relates that in 866, the monks who were bringing back the relics of sainte Geneviève from Marizy (Aisne), where the saint's shrine had been sheltered in 861 to keep it from the Normans, stopped at Rosny-sous-Bois.
