Marck is a French commune situated in the département of Pas-de-Calais, in the Hauts-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Marckois. The commune is a member of the communauté d'agglomération Grand Calais Terres et Mers.
A little history
Archaeology shows that the first inhabitants of Marck were Morins (Morini). A seafaring people, their territory stretched from the mouth of the Aa (the border with the Ménapiens to the north) to the valley of the Canche (the border with the Ambiens to the south). Their principal oppidum was Thérouanne (Taruanna), linked to the coast by numerous roads. One of the main roads (the Leulène) reached Sangatte and thus enabled trade coming from Northern Europe and the transport of sea produce towards inland areas.
