A little history
The territory of the commune has been occupied since the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the remains found there, polished press, axes and arrows. The remains of a Bronze Age tumulus have also been found near the hamlet of la Bimboire. This tumulus, excavated in the 1860s, is located to the north-west of the town, near the RD 58. During the period of independent Gaul, the territory of Maisdon belonged to a little-known Gaulish people, the Ambilatres, to the south of the Namnètes and to the west of the Pictons.
