Machecoul-Saint-Même [maʃku(l) sɛ̃ mɛm] has been, since 1 January 2016, a new French commune born from the merger of the communes of Machecoul and Saint-Même-le-Tenu in the département of Loire-Atlantique, in the région of Pays-de-la-Loire. The commune is situated in historic Brittany. It forms part of the pays nantais, the traditional pays of pays de Retz and the marches de Bretagne.
A little history
The commune of Machecoul-Saint-Même was born on 1 January 2016, from the coming together of Machecoul and Saint-Même-le-Tenu, under the regime of the commune nouvelle. The latter became communes déléguées of the new authority, in accordance with the wishes of the respective municipal councils, expressed on 22 October 2015, a decision confirmed by prefectoral order on 27 November 2015.
