A little history
Archaeological excavations carried out in 1984 proved that the territory of Lys had been occupied since the Gallo-Roman period. The first known document attesting to the existence of Lys-lez-Lannoy (spelled Lis) dates from 1164. The history of this town is inseparable from that of the town of Lannoy. On several occasions these towns came into conflict over a proposed merger.
