A little history
The new commune of Lys-Haut-Layon was created by prefectoral decree on 18 December 2015 through the merger on 1 January 2016 of seven of the twelve communes of the communauté de communes du Vihiersois-Haut-Layon, namely Les Cerqueux-sous-Passavant, La Fosse-de-Tigné, Nueil-sur-Layon, Tancoigné, Tigné, Trémont and Vihiers, to which were added the former associated communes of Vihiers, Saint-Hilaire-du-Bois and Le Voide.
