A little history
During the establishment of communes in the French Revolution, the territory of the current 8th arrondissement was attached to the commune of La Guillotière. The current territory retained a rural character at that time. In 1828, the plan for the subdivision of the estate of the château des Tournelles was drawn up. In the 1830s, this subdivision, named Monplaisir, was separated from the village of la Guillotière by the line of fortifications.
