A little history
Longuenesse has an aerodrome that played an important role during the First World War. Gaston Brogniart (1902-1943), born in Longuenesse, was a member of the résistance within the Forces françaises combattantes (FFC). He was arrested at Le Touquet-Paris-Plage and shot by the Germans on 20 July 1943 at the fort de Bondues (Nord), for having hidden a Canadian airman. A street in Longuenesse bears his name.
