It was formed by the merger on 1 January 2016 of the former communes of Andard, Bauné, La Bohalle, Brain-sur-l'Authion, Corné, La Daguenière and Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire, which became délégué communes.
A little history
Created by a prefectoral order of 7 December 2015, the new commune of Loire-Authion was formed by the merger on 1 January 2016 of the communes of the communauté de communes of the Vallée-Loire-Authion, with the exception of the commune of La Ménitré. These communes are those of Andard, Bauné, La Bohalle, Brain-sur-l'Authion, Corné, La Daguenière and Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire, which became délégué communes. The chef-lieu was established at Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire. La Ménitré joined the communauté de communes of Beaufort-en-Anjou, with that of the Vallée-Loire-Authion being dissolved.
