A little history
Lignan est conquis en 120 par les Romains et reçoit une colonie en 52 avant Jésus-Christ. Plus tard la civilisation chrétienne fut introduite par saint Aphrodise, le premier évêque de Béziers. Prise en 416 par les Wisigoths, la localité possède un sarcophage de cette époque. Lignan fut l’objet de terribles combats, non seulement de la fureur des Wisigoths, mais aussi de Sarrasins en 725.
