On 1 January 2016, Le Lion-d'Angers (former commune) merged with the neighbouring commune of Andigné by prefectoral order of 12 August 2015, which became a delegated commune. The chief town of the new commune was established at Le Lion-d'Angers (former commune), which did not take on the status of delegated commune.
