Lanvallay ([lɑ̃valɛ]) is a French commune situated in the département of Côtes-d'Armor, in the region of Bretagne. Its inhabitants are known as the Côtissois and the Côtissoises. There were 4,235 of them at the 2022 census.
A little history
Two Roman roads crossed the commune. One followed the ford at Taden between the Asile des Pêcheurs (Taden) and the mouth of the ruisseau du Pont Josselin to join Saint-Piat (the Corseul-Avranches road). The second is thought to have crossed the Rance at the level of the pont de Léhon (the Corseul-Le Mans road). Preventive excavations carried out in 2012 on the site of the ZAC de Coetquen (the production site of Gavottes in 2018) revealed the existence of human occupation dating from the La Tène period as well as the presence of a rich Gallo-Roman villa. The parish of Lanvallay formed part of the deanery of Dol, falling under the bishopric of Dol, and was placed under the patronage of saint Méen.
