Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Bezonde, the ruisseau des Mottes and another small watercourse. Ladon is a rural commune with 1,392 inhabitants in 2023, having experienced a sharp rise in population since 1975.
A little history
On 24 November 1870, during the Franco-German war, fighting took place at Chilleurs, Ladon, Boiscommun, Neuville-aux-Bois and Maizières, in which the 29e régiment de marche, the 44e régiment de marche, the 7e régiment de chasseurs à cheval, the 2e régiment de marche de lanciers, the 67e régiment provisoire composed of the garde nationale mobile de la Haute-Loire and the 2e bataillon de la garde nationale mobile de la Corse were engaged. Between 29 January and 8 February 1939, more than 2,800 Spanish refugees fleeing the collapse of the Spanish republic before the troops of Franco arrived in the Loiret.
