La Tour-sur-Orb (in Occitan, La Torre d'Òrb) is a French commune situated in the centre of the département of Hérault, in the Occitanie region. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Orb, the Mare, the Vernoubrel and by various other small watercourses. Included in the parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc, the commune possesses a remarkable natural heritage composed of three natural zones of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
In 1761, the community of Boussagues comprised Clairac, le Mas-Blanc, le Bousquet Barbal, Saint-Xist, Véreilhes, Sénégra, Alzou, Frangouille, Camplong, Graissessac, Riols, Laroque, Lomastan, Prouvères, l'Airole, Saint-Étienne-Estréchoux, Vérenoux, and Marsans d'Alzon. The parishes were attached to the diocese of Béziers. In 1790, the parishes of Saint-Martin de Clémensan and Saint-Laurent de Feyrerolles were attached to Boussagues.
