La Séguinière is a French commune situated in the département of Maine-et-Loire in the région of Pays de la Loire. Situated in the agglomeration of Cholet, several industrial and commercial zones are to be found there.
A little history
From the 5th to the 9th century, the territory formed part of the ancient Tiphalie, the pays de Tiffauges. The first document to cite the name of La Séguinière mentions, around 1080, a Gautier, a priest, who, along with his family, gave the bordage de l'Elinière near Aubigné to the abbaye de Marmoutiers. La Séguinière was in the Middle Ages a châtellenie situated in the Marches communes de Poitou et d'Anjou, and came under the baronnie de Mortagne, for Poitou, and the baronnie de Montfaucon, for Anjou. A substantial château was built to the north of the village, on the right bank of La Moine.
