A little history
A few vestiges attest to a fairly ancient human presence on the site, including Neolithic flint stations, the Menhir de l'Ennerie at la Piraudière (Neolithic) and vestiges of the Dolmen du Moulin de la Guerche. There are three Bronze Age settlements and a number of Gaulish settlements with their salt-firing kilns. Kilns with "gros piliers" from the 8th and 6th centuries BC are found at the sites of la Govogne and les Raguennes. "Allongés" kilns date from the 6th and 4th centuries BC.
