Jugon-les-Lacs [ʒygɔ̃ le lak] is a commune in the département of Côtes-d'Armor, in the region of Bretagne. Jugon-les-Lacs, a commune created on 1 April 1973 under the legal framework of fusion-association, following the merger of the communes of Jugon, Lescouët-Jugon and Saint-Igneuc, merged with Dolo on 1 January 2016, under the legal framework of the commune nouvelle, to form Jugon-les-Lacs - Commune nouvelle, renamed Jugon-les-Lacs on 1 January 2024. It is part of the Petites Cités de Caractère and the Villages étapes.
A little history
Near the camping du Lac, a Gallo-Roman deposit was found, known since the last century. It yielded tegulae and pottery shards. It is situated on the edge of the Chemin de Létra, an ancient Roman road between Corseul and Vannes. De Boishardy, a Chouan leader, took Jugon in 1794. His 400 men cut down the Arbre de la liberté, cried "Vive le roi!" and carried off the arms of the brigade. The monument aux Morts bears the names of 28 soldiers who died for their country. 19 died during the First World War.
