Hanvec [ɑ̃vɛk] is a French commune in the département of Finistère, in the region of Bretagne. It is an extensive commune. With an area of 59.11 km², it ranks 14th among the largest communes in the département of Finistère, whilst also being the largest in its former canton (Daoulas).
A little history
Numerous remains found in the commune bear witness to the Bronze Age, marked here by the tumulus civilisation (3500 to 1800 BC). In 1977, an Iron Age underground passage was discovered in a field at Menez-Nevez, the ground having subsided under the passage of a combine harvester. There are also traces of the presence of the Romans, who arrived in 54 BC.
