A little history
The former village was situated on the coastline during the Dunkerque II marine transgression, which submerged the low-lying land of the moëres and then all the lands of the French and Belgian maritime Flandres, pushing back the populations who occupied these lands or produced salt there towards the peripheral hills. The town of Guînes was the capital of a county that was not without renown in history. A particular role is no doubt linked to its strategic geographical position, on the slope of the plateau separating the Boulonnais from the Calaisis, on the edge of the marshy plain, today perfectly drained, which extends as far as the seashore.
