Guerlédan is a new French commune located in the département of Côtes-d'Armor in the région of Bretagne. It was created by the merger, on 1 January 2017, of the communes of Mûr-de-Bretagne and Saint-Guen, which became its délégué communes.
A little history
The commune was born from the grouping together of the communes of Mûr-de-Bretagne and Saint-Guen, which became délégué communes on 1 January 2017. Its chef-lieu is located at Mûr-de-Bretagne. From the moment the new commune was created, its name was challenged in court by other communes bordering the lake of the same name, which considered themselves disadvantaged by this appropriation of a name with strong tourist appeal. The new commune, for its part, claimed the legacy of the former Communauté de Communes de Guerlédan, of which it represented three quarters of the inhabitants.
