Guenrouet, or Guenrouët (pronounced [gɛ̃.ʁwɛt], in Breton, Gwenred) is a commune in the west of France, situated in the département of Loire-Atlantique, in the Pays de la Loire region.
A little history
The parish is said to have been founded by Alain Ier de Bretagne "le Grand" in the 9th century. The commune is part of historic Brittany. The family de Saint-Marsault was lord of Pontcorhan. During the Revolution, Guenrouët sheltered a revolutionary troop in the presbytery but the population showed itself hostile to the Civil Constitution of the Clergy and hid refractory priests.
