Frévent is a French commune situated in the département of Pas-de-Calais in the région of Hauts-de-France. Its inhabitants are called the Fréventins. Its population is 3,259 inhabitants at the 2023 census, and it reached a peak population in 1906 with 4,755 inhabitants.
A little history
During the First World War, Frévent, situated behind the front line running from Nieuport to Ypres, then at the Arras salient and continuing towards the Aisne and the Marne, saw a considerable number of soldiers, wounded men and evacuees pass through. The château de Cercamp, at Frévent, housed the headquarters of General Ferdinand Foch, commander of the Armée du Nord, from June to October 1915. On 22 May 1915, the 9th infantry brigade, formed from the 74th and 39th infantry regiments and elements of two other regiments coming from the east, arrived at Frévent station. The troops made their way to Ivergny and Le Souich, retained as billeting locations.
