Fréhel [fʁeɛl] is a French commune in the département des Côtes-d'Armor, in the région of Bretagne.
A little history
At Sables d'Or, near the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa, a collective burial of four individuals was discovered and dated to the Late Empire. The abbaye de Saint-Jacut holds land on the territory of Fréhel that was given to it in 1092, and the monks of Saint-Aubin-des-Bois also had possessions there at that time. During the 13th century, Fréhel, which was still called Pléherel, became a viscountcy. It was Olivier de Tournemine, seigneur de la Hunaudaye, who was at the origin of this, after he became owner of the land in 1214.
