A little history
Human occupation there is very ancient. In 2000, studies carried out as part of the diversion of the RN 141 led to the discovery at Brénat of a vast area of occupation, including notably a rich collection of Bronze Age and Iron Age artefacts covering all periods from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages. Numerous worked flints, tools, axes and arrowheads were found, as well as a great many ceramics and amphorae. Remains of Gallo-Roman roads and ancient stone sarcophagi of various sizes were also uncovered, adding to these discoveries.
