Espalion (Espaliu in Occitan) is a French commune situated in the north of the département of Aveyron, in the Occitanie region. The architectural heritage of the commune includes seven listed buildings protected as historical monuments. A little history
The town of Espalion grew from the bridge over the Lot and from trade with the mountains. A secondary Roman road crossed the Lot at Saint-Côme-d'Olt via a ford near the site of the Gothic bridge. Espalion was situated on a section of the road linking Bordeaux (via Cahors) and Toulouse to Lyon, capital of the Gauls.
