A little history
Towards the end of the 9th century, the Vikings sailed up the Lys and attacked the town. In 1214, Ferrand de Flandre turned against Philippe II Auguste, who had the château d'Erquinghem-Lys razed. In 1647, Luis de Benavides Carrillo established his quarters at Erquinghem during the siege of Armentières. The village became French in 1668.
