A little history
A Benedictine abbey of nuns was founded there in the 12th century, cited for the first time in 1129 when nuns from Argenteuil arrived at the monastery. Under the dedication of Notre-Dame, it was first called Notre-Dame du Footel known as le Bois-aux-Dames, then the abbaye de la Malnoue from 1460. United in 1772 with the Ursulines de Versailles, it disappeared at the Revolution. Today, this former seigneury is called Émerainville, near Paris.
