Écuras (Escuras in Limousin, an Occitan dialect) is a commune in South-West France, situated in the département of Charente (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region). Its inhabitants are called Écurassiens and Écurassiennes.
A little history
At la Borderie and at the lieu-dit Conan, tegulae have been found, and may indicate the sites of Gallo-Roman villas. Between Chassagne and Perry (spelled Peyris in the early twentieth century), the wooded combe contained a small silver-bearing lead mine that was worked for a short time before the nineteenth century. The commune also had several mills and tileworks.
